Belden Expands IT/OT Portfolio with Rugged Switching, Edge Connectivity and Fire-Safe Cabling

A broad product launch from Belden targets the practical pain points of industrial network convergence — from analog sensor integration to DC-powered switching and high-density fiber for data centers.

Belden has announced a wide-ranging set of product launches and portfolio expansions covering industrial device connectivity, wireless orchestration, rugged switching, high-density fiber infrastructure and life-safety cabling. The announcement reflects a broader industry trend: as OT networks in manufacturing, energy and transportation extend into harsher, more distributed environments, the demand grows for hardware that simplifies integration at the edge rather than adding complexity.

Several launches address specific integration headaches engineers will recognize. The LioN-X IO-Link Analog Hub lets teams connect analog sensors — voltage, current, resistance, thermocouple — directly into an IO-Link network without a separate power supply, reducing panel footprint. The ProSoft 8-Channel HART Gateway similarly consolidates up to 64 HART field devices into EtherNet/IP or Modbus without stacking additional gateways in the cabinet. Both are incremental but meaningful reductions in wiring complexity and panel space — the kind of detail that matters when retrofitting brownfield sites.

Power flexibility and redundancy for rugged switching

The Hirschmann GREYHOUND GRS2000 Low Voltage switch stands out for procurement teams managing substations, trackside infrastructure or process plants. By drawing power directly from an existing low-voltage DC rail — with single or redundant options — it removes the need for a separate converter and offers a defined migration path for sites running older MACH1000 or GRS1020/30 hardware. For asset owners planning multi-year infrastructure refreshes, having a stated upgrade path reduces both engineering risk and lifecycle cost uncertainty.

On the entry-level side, the Hirschmann IT MTS 2608/2708 switches bring ERPS ring redundancy, 4x 1G SFP+ uplinks and a security suite to IT/OT convergence projects at a lower price point, with the MTS2708 adding PoE+ up to 125W — relevant for powering edge cameras, access points or sensors without extra infrastructure.

Fiber density and life-safety compliance

The ACX 4U panel and 12-port MPO adaptor strip target high-density data center cross-connects, supporting up to 384F in a 4U footprint — a density gain that matters as edge and core data center space becomes constrained. Separately, the Safe T Line expansion adds EN 50200 PH120 and CPR Cca-rated cabling for fire alarm and evacuation systems, addressing a compliance requirement that is non-negotiable in building and critical infrastructure projects across Europe.

Belden's Wireless Orchestration software rounds out the launch, offering a single dashboard to manage both enterprise and industrial access points — a step toward unified wireless management as IT and OT networks increasingly share infrastructure.

Why it matters for Nordic buyers

For Nordic operators in energy, maritime and rail — sectors where substations, trackside cabinets and process plants often run on established DC power infrastructure — the GRS2000's direct DC-rail compatibility and stated migration path from legacy Hirschmann switches is a practical detail worth flagging early in any refresh cycle. Equally, the CPR Cca and EN 50200 PH120 cabling additions align directly with the fire-safety and building code requirements that apply across Nordic infrastructure and public-facing projects.

These are not headline-grabbing innovations, but a set of targeted fixes to real integration, power and compliance challenges facing engineers deploying and maintaining converged IT/OT networks.

As with any expanded product line, the value lies in matching the right module to the right application — something that requires both technical familiarity and local support.
